Ingredients
for masala paste:
- ½ onion, cubed
- 8 cloves / lavang
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 inch cinnamon
- 2 green chilli
- 3 blanched tomato
other ingredients:
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1 bay leaf / tej patta
- 13 whole cashew / kaju
- ½ onion, sliced
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cup cooked rice
Instructions
- firstly, in a small blender take ½ onion, 8 cloves, ½ tsp pepper, 1 inch cinnamon, 2 green chilli and handful blanched tomato leaves.
- blend to smooth paste adding 2 tbsp of water or as required. keep aside.
- in a large kadai, heat 1 tbsp ghee and roast 1 bay leaf and 13 whole cashew.
- add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste till the raw smell disappears.
- add in prepared masala paste along with 1 tsp of salt. mix well.
- cover and cook for 5 minutes,.
- now add in 3 cups of cooked rice and mix gently.
- cover and simmer for 5 minutes to absorb all masala.
- finally, serve tomato rice with raita of your choice.
